Kaapo Kakko has not been everybody's favorite player.

He only has two points for the season in 14 games, on pace for 12 points of the season based off an 82 game projection.

Not something people expect from a player when drafting second overall.

Some even view as a low point for Kakko when he was dropped down to the third line on the team.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for the 22 year old.

There are aspects of his game that really makes him stand out, and Steven Pappas on the World Wide Sports Radio Net, does a great job to articulate those aspects.

Take a listen.

He makes excellent points. Defensively, Kakko is a stud. He has great pick awareness, sticks to his man, and is a pest for opposing players to face while handling the puck.

Plus he is currently in a line with two other defensive first players in Will Cuylle and Nick Bonino, let's see what happens when Filip Chytil returns in that center position.

This is also a line where if the team has a lead, you want to lean on them more to maintain the lead.

It may not be what we want. You expect a player who can play both sides of the game like say, Adam Fox.

But I guess that's what makes Fox special, there aren't really other players like him. Kakko still remains an asset to the team, even if it's not in the way we expect.
