Rangers and Knicks playoff performances Drive Financial Success Across the Board
The New York Knicks and New York Rangers share the epic, Madison Square Garden arena.
Both teams are staples in the city and are, featured in media ranging from TV shows to movies. They're not only cultural icons but an organ of the city itself.
As both teams went on deep playoff runs this year, this drove expectations above and beyond and brought in record financial success in 2023-2024.
«MSGS reported $227 million in revenue during the 2024 fiscal fourth quarter ending June 30-up $100 million compared to the same period last year-as the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals and the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Final,» Eric Jackson of Sportico wrote.
«This season was the first since 2013 that saw both MSG teams reach at least the second round of the playoffs in the same year. The combination of seven additional playoff games and four more regular season games compared to last year's fourth quarter helped MSGS close out a strong fiscal year where total revenue topped a record $1 billion, a 16% jump ($139 million) from the 2023 fiscal year.»
Both teams are at an elite level for the first time in a while and are making bank for it. With both teams buzzing, there's hope one or both will eventually secure another NBA Championship or Stanley Cup.
With leadership with the likes of Igor Shesterkin, Julius Randle, Artemi Panarin, and Jalen Brunson, the Rangers and Knicks are set up for long-term success.
This could be only the start for MSG, the Knicks, and the Rangers as both franchises have a championship window for the next two years.
