One of the major reasons for the Rangers struggles is the lackluster season of Igor Shesterkin.

He is having easily his worst season of his career.

With a save percentage of .899 and goals allowed average of 2.86, that is not an understatement.

It's begged the question from some, if Jonathan Quick, should be the starter for the Rangers moving forward, especially for the playoffs.

Jonathan Quick has a sensational game against the Colorado Avalanche, stopping 31 of 32 shots for a .969 save percentage, afterwards had Stephen Valiquette offering his two cents.

"My vote is for Jonathan Quick for starting goalie, until proven otherwise. You play Wednesday, you go with Quick. He wins, you play him again against Chicago. It doesn't go well, you go to Shesterkin, who is highly motivated on Monday against Calgary. I can see it working. I think, right now, if you want to get everything out of Shesterkin, the biggest wake up call you can get is by taking away some ice time right now. I just think that's the best way to go right now. You've tried everything else. I said two weeks ago give Shesterkin a run of play. It didn't work. The next thing is, take away ice time. That's OK."

Jonathan Quick has earned the benefit of the doubt. With the Metropolitan Division lead dwindling, the Rangers might as well lean on the hot goalie right now.

Igor Shesterkin will still be here of course, it's just not his year.
