The New York Rangers have had to course correct, with Artemi Panarin being out of the lineup due to injury.

This has opened up an opportunity for Alexis Lafreniere who is on a slow ascent into what could be a superstar run in 2024-2025.
Lafreniere, in Panarin's absence, was seen practicing on the New York Rangers 1st power-play unit.
This is a long-time coming for the forward who according to DailyFaceoff's website is currently on the 2nd power-play unit with Kaapo Kakko, Reilly Smith, Jacob Trouba, and Filip Chytil.
It's truthful to say that Lafreniere has earned this promotion, as he put up career-number in 2023-2024 scoring 57 points( 28 G, 29 A) with 6 points on the power-play(2 G, 4 A).
This could help Laviolette to balance out the power-play units by demoting another star on the top line to the 2nd unit such as Vinnie Troecheck for example.
But that remains to be seen.
However, 2024-2025 could stand to be another breakout year for one of the Ranger's best forwards last season.
A gifted and versatile scoring winger with outstanding hockey sense and the ability to elevate his game when the situation calls for it, Lafreniere possesses many traits that scream elite and potential NHL superstar. From his deadly wrist shot to his superior playmaking and vision, the St. Eustache native checks every block imaginable when it comes to possessing the puck. What makes Lafreniere unique, however, is his insanely high compete level, tenacity on the puck, physicality, and selflessness. Play him on a line with equally heralded or accomplished prospects, and he'll make it a point to tap into their strengths rather than make himself the center of attention.

Alexis Lafreniere
Alexis Lafreniere has at this point, beat the bust allegations and has now set his sights on superstardom in the NHL.
He's arrived according to The Athletic.
The Athletic recently ranked Lafreniere No. 14 on a list of top NHL players and prospects under the age of 23. Expectations are now off the charts for Lafreniere, and he enters camp looking for his first 30-goal season and, perhaps, a shot at playing for Canada in the 4 Nations Tournament.
