Ethan Sears of The York Post has stated those three RFA are to be Ryan Lindgren, Kaapo Kakko and Braden Schneider.
The Rangers are faced with a unique challenge as they have a tight salary cap, projected at $87.7 million and with $75.88 million already committed. They must make the right negotiations as it will significantly impact their future moving forward.
Ryan Lindgren as been the backbone of the Rangers defensive unit alongside Adam Fox, and is certainly due for a considerable raise from is current $3 million AAV.
Just this past season, the 26-year-old defenseman recorded three goals, 17 total points, a +17 plus/minus rating, 103 blocked shots, and 114 hits across 76 games played.
Chris Drury must navigate the cap carefully as it's crucial to accommodate Lindgren to his rightful raise but also maintain balance throughly the entire roster.
However, Kaapo Kakko and Braden Schneider are both at completely different stages in their careers with the Rangers.
Kakko hasn't quite established himself with the Rangers, the lack of his ability to be a consistent offensive threat since joining the team suggests it could be in the best interest for the Rangers to explore trade options.
On the other hand, Schneider is coming off a strong playoff appearance, and seems poised for a bridge deal that reflects his growing importance and potential within the team's defensive corps. As the 22-year-old recorded five goals, 19 total points, a -1 plus/minus rating, 133 blocked shots, and 167 hits across 82 games played.
