Rangers Legend Admits He Was Only Meant To Play In New York
The legendary Henrik Lundqvist will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on November 13th, and it'll be well deserved.
He is the only goaltender in NHL history to record eleven 30-win seasons in his first twelve seasons, and holds the record for most wins by a European-born goaltender.
He also won the Vezina Trophy in 2012. He is one of the all-time greatest goaltenders in NHL history, and he spent it all on one team.
He would even call it destiny that he stayed with the Rangers his whole career with the NHL Face Off crew.

"It was not meant to be. I was only meant to play in New York."
Of course he was only meant to play in New York. It's where he always belonged.
Some forget Lundqvist signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals after he was bought out of his contract with the Rangers in September of 2020.
His play had declined while simultaneously the emergence of Rangers goaltenders Alexandar Georgiev and
Igor Shesterkin as the future of the organization.
Unfortunately, Lundqvist required an open-heart surgery due to an irregular heartbeat brought upon by pericarditis.
He never had a chance to play for the Capitals and soon retired.
The Rangers retired number 30 in his honor during the 202122 season.
The only knock anyone has on Lundqvist was that he never won the Stanley Cup.
That was no fault of his own, as he has risen to the occasion in the playoffs time and time again.
Unfortunately the organization never gave him the proper team to help him win it all.
He will always be a legend, and a king amongst Rangers nation.
