The New York Rangers Matt Rempe is an agitator on the ice. It was reported that the towering forward was the one who got under Captain Brady Tkachuk's skin by talking smack, instead of Tkachuk starting the conflict.

The New York Rangers defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-0, in what was a route against an Atlantic Division team trying to hold onto their wild-card playoff spot.

But thanks to Matt Rempe, he was able to get under Captain Brady Tkachuk's skin as they would verbally joust on the ice.

While we don't have a detailed video of what was said, no thanks to Jomboy Media we have to go by Rempe's words.

Rempe practices agitation in a simple way, he bumps into players on the ice intentionally.

But not reckless enough to draw a penalty.

«I like to go around and bump into guys randomly and piss them off,» Rempe said. «I bumped into him (Tkachuk) and then he didn't like that I bumped into him.»

Rempe is known for laying bruising hits on the ice, and last season fighting every heavyweight in the NHL.

Now, while he's toned it down a bit, he still engages in a behavior that we only see in players like Brad Marchand, a rat.

Except Rempe can fight.

Rempe is not only an enforcer, but he's also an agitator.

Rempe and Tkachuk wouldn't end up dropping the gloves yesterday, but they would engage in a scrum by the Rangers net.

An official stood between the two, while Brady attempted to land multiple punches. Fortunately for Tkachuk, Rempe was held back and we know what kind of damage he'd do.

This season could be career-defining for Rempe if he can find his offense and continue to grow as a depth forward in the lineup.

His agitation on the ice is just one quality team's love.

He can get under the opposition's skin, and help drive home a goal like he did against the Ottawa Senators.

Could this be the start of a new role for the former enforcer?
