According to David Pagnota of The Fourth Period, the New York Rangers are interested in young Ducks' star Trevor Zegras.
Zegras is 23 years old and was the ninth overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Ducks. Zegras has been linked to seven different NHL teams, and New York is one of them.
Trevor had six goals and nine assists, tallying up to 15 points in 31 games last season. He can play the center and the wing and will provide a spark right away on the offense. Trevor had his year cut short due to a broken ankle that he had surgery on. He'll look to bounce back this year.
One guy you can send over, a failed experiment, is Kaapo Kakko. Kakko is also 23 years old and was taken second overall by the Rangers. Kakko just hasn't worked out on the Rangers. His name has been flying around in trades for a long time now, and this could be the time to get it done.
The Rangers tried to bounce him up and down the lineup to try to get him going, but never worked. Kaapo had nine points in 44 games last year, and tallied only two points in 15 games this last playoff campaign.
Why not get Zegras, who is young and can spark up the lineup, and trade Kakko when you know he doesn't work?
