Shesterkin Might Have Been The Best Player On The Ice
There was a long stretch of the game where the Rangers couldn't gain possession of the puck, and the Tampa Bay Lightning came storming with a furious flurry of attacks while the Rangers were holding on to a delicate 3-1 lead.
Igor Shesterkin answered the call each and every time.
Stopping 34 of 35 shots for a save percentage of .971 for a birthday win!
His last five games has been sensational! 5-0-0 with a 1.40 goals against average and .952 save percentage!
Head coach Peter Laviolette believes Shesterkin was the best player on the ice.
"I thought he was the best player on the ice, and that's saying a lot because that line and Bread had a heck of a game. But Igor was amazing with some of the saves that he made. He seemed like he was dialed in. He saw pucks. He was really good.''
Shesterkin was brilliant out there, and the one goal he allowed was after he made several saves while the defense collapsed in front of him.
Never doubt Shesterkin! Happy birthday to No. 31!
