The New York Rangers have just signed former Stanley Cup Champion to help boost their defensive line.

New York Rangers President and GM Chris Drury just announced that the organization has agreed to terms with defenseman, Chad Ruhwedel on a one-year contract.

The 34-year old defenseman recorded 1 goal and 3 assists for a total of 4 points in 52 games between the Rangers (5 games) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (47 games) in the 2023-24 season.

Despite not having the greatest offensive performance, he definitely adds depth to the Rangers defensive line as the 5-11, 191-pound blueliner added 90 hits and 44 blocked shots to his season total.

Chad Ruhwedel has played 364 career NHL games between the Rangers, Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres, and managed to tally 13 goals, 36 assists for a total of 49 points.

Ruhwedel posted a career high back in the 2021-22 season with 4 goals, 9 assists, 13 points, 149 hits, and 86 blocked shots.

Ruhwedel has also appeared in 25 career playoff games, becoming a Stanley Cup Champion in 2017 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
