The New York Rangers have upgraded their scouting staff, as they have signed Dave MacPherson for the year.

MacPherson developed Pick224, a site used by many in the NHL to discern the truth about prospects, as it collected data from many junior leagues.

The site was founded in July 2019 and has been a proven tool, so much so that the Rangers now have him on staff.

In July 2019, I launched Pick224, a website containing data from over 15 hockey leagues across the world with a focus on junior hockey and the NHL draft.

It looks like many teams will follow in the Washington Capitals suit, as they try to corner the market on information.

This time the Rangers must be prioritizing the future, with MacPherson on staff. His site launched in 2019, but he has been scraping data since 2018.

The 2018 NHL entry draft is tomorrow night, so myself and fellow hockey fans are all yelling at each other about who our favourite teams should draft.

Last year, to aid my yelling, I pulled data for 2,685 players from the following leagues:
North America: OHL, QMJHL, WHL, USHL, USDP
 Sweden: SuperElit (U20)
Czech Republic: DHL Extraliga junior (U20)

This year, I scraped those leagues plus the following:
 North America: NCAA
 Sweden: Swedish Hockey League, Allsvenskan
 Finland: Liiga, Nuorten SM-liiga (U20)
 Russia: MHL

This expands the data to 4,199 draft-eligible players, and 6,037 players in total.

Will the Rangers use his skills to find the best bargain options in the next few draft classes?
