The Rangers Have A Chance To Clinch The Metropolitan Division Tonight
There are only four games left in the season for the Rangers, who own the best record in the league.
They will remain the No. 1 seed in the Metropolitan Division for a 169th consecutive day regardless of tonight's result.
The difference today is they can lock up their first division title since 2014-15.
The Rangers can clinch the division tonight with a win in any fashion over the Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes lose to the Boston Bruins in regulation.
This would also lower down the magic number to three points for both the Eastern Conference and the President Trophy.
An incredible accomplishment from this team and Peter Laviolette's first year as head coach!
