The New York Rangers have received some very unfortunate news just moments before facing the Chicago Blackhawks, regarding one of their veteran forwards.

Just moments before the New York Rangers hit the ice to take on the Chicago Blackhawks, one of their veterans was not out there for warmups.

That veteran forward being 33-year old Chris Kreider, was has sustained an upper-back injury and has now been listed as Day-to-Day.

UPDATE: Chris Kreider (upper body, day-to-day) will not play today.

No Chris Kreider for #NYR warmups, team says he's day-to-day with an upper-body injury

News like this is never a good thing, as the Rangers desperately need all the help they can get, so losing a veteran player is never ideal.

However, Chris Kreider's replacement was confirmed by Mollie Walker of The New York Post as she confirms the Rangers lineups during warmups:

#NYR warmup lines vs. Blackhawks:

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Brodzinski-Zibanejad-Smith
Cuylle-Chytil-Berard
Edström-Carrick-Vesey

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Vaakanainen-Schneider

31-year old veteran, Jonny Brodzinski will be slotting in for Kreider. Brodzinski as only managed to play 16 games for the Rangers this season and has tallied 2 goals and 2 assists with a plus/minus of +3 while averaging 10:18 of ice time.

This injury has also sparked some speculation of a possible trade, as it's been well known that the Rangers GM Chris Drury is looking to shake up his roster and make some drastic changes.

Do you think Chris Kreider's injury will be related to an incoming trade from the Rangers? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to NY Rangers Insider for the latest news and updates on the New York Rangers.
