The New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba made a surprising statement to The Athletic's Peter Baugh.

Even in the midst of the team attempting to move him during the off-season and unload his $8 Million dollar contract.

The 30-year-old still has two years left on his deal with the Rangers and is still happy to remain for the 2024-2025 campaign. A surprising statement for someone who wasn't considered a part of the Rangers' long-term plans.

«It's part of the business,» Trouba said. «I knew that part of my contract turned this year (to a no-trade list), and I submitted a list. That's what I did. All the other noise was pretty much noise.»

He would also be quick to refute there was any bad blood between himself and Rangers GM Chris Drury.

Mentioning that communication between himself and the front office was:

great the whole time»

It seems likely that Trouba is willing to go the professional route, in hopes of making his exit in 2025 much easier for the Rangers.
