Rangers versus the Kraken: Three key factors to pay attention to during upcoming game
This is the start of a four-game road trip for the New York Rangers and begins a 6 game stretch where they'll play games away from Madison Square Garden.
The Pacific Division isn't a particularly difficult Division, as the Vancouver Canucks are likely the toughest team the Rangers will face, as they're 9-4-3 coming off a victory against the Blackhawks last night.
The Kraken (9-8-1) have won four in a row, though, to creep back into the early playoff picture in the Pacific. They edged the Islanders 3-2 at home Saturday and have allowed eight goals in their past four games.
The Rangers (10-4-1) have never lost in regulation to the Kraken. They are 5-0-1 against the fourth-year club. That .917 point percentage is the highest for New York against any active NHL team.
The Rangers will be missing
Filip Chytil who remains out of the lineup with an upper-body injury.
Slotting in tonight will be
Jonny Brodzinski who's been a healthy scratch, and played only 7 games this season, and only scored 2 points(1 G, 1 A).
This game could be a turning point, especially if Chytil is out long-term. Due to the situation being eerily similar, Brodzinski played 57 games last season.
It'll be up to him to keep the Rangers 3rd line, efficient and drive offense like Chytil did so well in order for him to remain in the lineup.
In limited time this season, Brodzinski has one goal and one assist, averaging 9:11 TOI in seven games on the fourth line.
The Rangers are good on the road, as they're 5-1-0 and won their first four games away from home.
That is until they ran into the Washington Capitals, losing 5-3 on October 29th. They'd once again solidify their status as road warriors defeating the Red Wings 4-0.
This season, their road points percentage (.833) is third best in the NHL. The Rangers lead the League with 4.83 goals for per road game and 1.67 goals against per road game.
