Maple Leafs and NHL are mourning the loss of Ron Ellis
The NHL and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in mourning as Ron Ellis has passed away. Ellis, was the final player who was left from the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup win. He was 79 years old.
Ellis, played for the Toronto Maple Leafs through his entire career which began in 1964 which spanned across 11 seasons till 1975. The right winger was a consistent point contributor for the Maple Leafs throughout his entire career as he averaged between 45 and 65 points per season.
The pinnacle of his career was winning the Stanley Cup in 1967 when the Toronto Maple Leafs played against the Montreal Canadiens in which they took the series in six games.
In 1972 he represented Canada in the 1972 summit series and he also worked for the hockey Hall of Fame as an executive.
Throughout his career, he played 1034 games, scoring 332 goals with 308 assists for 640 points and 207 penalty minutes.
