What seemed to be a harmless play with 5 minutes remaining in the first period spared a major fight between Flyers forward Nick Deslauriers and Wild heavyweight Pat Maroon.
It wasn't uncommon to see these two go at it when Maroon played with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It was a slow start to this tilt as both players took several swings and missed.
But not long after Nick Deslauriers dropped a few bombs which sent Maroon down to the ice.
Both guys were assessed 5 minutes for fighting and the Flyers went on to beat the Wild 4-3 in overtime.
With that win, this puts the Flyers within four points of the Rangers who are holding the Metro divisions lead.
Though there's still plenty of hockey in this season, the Rangers organization will need to keep an eye on this and straighten out their issues as the Flyers continue to creep up in the standings.
