Recent reports have confirmed that the Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed defenseman Dante Fabbro off waiver from the Nashville Predators.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman was the first to confirm this announcement, along with reporting on Saturday during Hockey Night in Canada's Saturday Headlines' that it be unlikely is Fabbro would be claimed of waivers.
Friedman suggested this due to Fabbro's $2.5 million cap hit for this season, however Columbus has decided to a chance.
Fabbro has been a positively rated player by advanced metrics that view his overall contribution as much stronger than what is portrayed on the stat sheet, so it's not surprising that an organization claimed him.
According to a report by PuckPedia, the Nashville Predators were ninth in the standings for waiving players based on current win percentage.
Fabbro was even originally drafted by the Nashville Predators during the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but Fabbro never made his NHL debut until 2019 with the Predators.
The 26-year old defender has been pointless in six games for the Predators this season, who are 13th in the Western Conference.
