Yesterday, devils interim head coach Travis Green accepted a full-time job with the Ottawa Senators and signed a four-year contract. This decision has left the New Jersey Devils with a vacancy on their bench. According to Elliotte Friedman of the 32 thoughts podcast, this coaching job has the highest ceiling, and many candidates are in the mix.

While speaking on the Jeff Marek show, Friedman explains that the devils have reached out to many candidates to either book interviews or ask if they would be interested which include former Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft and former St Louis Blues head coach Craig Berube.

Both candidates are more than qualified and have had success in their stints with their previous teams. Berube won the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019 and has held several coaching gigs including the Flyers and Blues.

The NHL coaching carousel will begin to spin faster as other teams may enter the race for new bench bosses which may include the Toronto Maple Leafs as many feel that Sheldon Keefe maybe fired by Friday. The Rangers other rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins may also be looking for a new head coach as they have not reached a deal with current head coach Mike Sullivan.

It's going to be a fascinating summer for many teams in the NHL as the winds of change continue to blow and teams are eager to turn their fortunes around.
