With fans dialed into the lives of NHL players that post or have interviews, social media has given them a new connection with their fans.

Sometimes they will tell crazy stories and this was the case with former Rangers forward Frank Vatrano.
During an interview, Vatrano revealed the time he was called up to the Boston Bruins for his first NHL game against the Bruins bitter rivals, the Montreal Canadiens.
It seemed that no matter what, Vatrano's father and uncle were determined to see Frank make his NHL debut even meaning facing the border guards or be turned around.
I would have to give props to the border guard that let Vatrano's family through as that was a good gesture.
The 30-year-old was undrafted when he entered the league in 2015. Having played for four NHL organizations, Vatrano spent a portion of a season with the Rangers.
During his time with the Blueshirts, he played 22 games, scored eight goals with five assists for 13 points.
There were many rumours of the Rangers were attempting to have a reunion with Vatrano but that failed to materialize.
The Rangers next game will be on the road to face off against the Lightning.
Game will be held on March 14th and the time will be 7:00pm Eastern.
