NHL veteran has now made it official and has decided to hang up the skates for good.

Veteran defenceman Jordie Benn announced his retirement from professional hockey in a conversation with CHEK News' Paul Haysom.

Jordie spent last season overseas, but played his final NHL season back in 2022-23 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he scored two points in 12 games.

While the 37-year old defenseman played for many organizations throughout his career, it's safe to say his six seasons with the Dallas Stars were his most memorable. During that time he played with his little brother Jamie, who is now captain of the Stars.

However, after Dallas, he spent three seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, then signed with the Vancouver Canucks in 2019 before getting traded to the Winnipeg Jets at the 2021 trade deadline, and now finally Jordie Benn played a single season with the Minnesota Wild before finishing his career with the Maple Leafs.

Jordin Benn has played a total of 607 NHL games, over 12 season and managed to record 26 goals, 111 assists, for a total of 137 points.
