Tragic news strikes the hockey community as 16-year old hockey player sadly passes way
The hockey world is mourning the tragic loss of a 16-year old hockey player who lost his life in a tragic car accident.
It was unfortunately announced that 16-year-old William Neeb, who played for the 16U AAA Connecticut Chiefs has tragically passed away.
William showed a lot of potential at just 16-years old as he was leading the Connecticut Chiefs in scoring with 25 points in just 22 games played this year.
Reports indicate that Neeb tragically passed away after being involved in a collision with a mid-size vehicle (SUV). Neeb clearly had a ton of talent and was very passionate for the game hockey, everyone around him knew just how special he was just by watching him play.
Coaches Ike Corriveau and Trent Thomas both noted Neebs skills during the CT High School All-Star game:
"Shortly after being recruited for the 16U AAA Full Season team, Will immersed himself in training with Coach Trent, driven by his unwavering love for hockey. Will's relentless work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership by example made him not only a standout athlete but also a beloved teammate. His presence on and off the ice will be deeply missed."
New Milford reported that Neeb "succumbed to his injuries from a motor vehicle accident."
Neeb was also an athlete of many sports, and also played lacrosse. The team issued their condolences along with a very heartfelt message following his passing:
«He was an outstanding athlete and a favorite with his coaches and teammates. Will showed leadership and selflessness on the field, and always set an excellent example for the players around him. He will be remembered as a kind, polite, coachable, and all around great kid."
It was also reported that during Neeb's memorial, his friends, teammates and family members made a heartbreaking gesture as they all sat in silence for 12 minutes to honour Will, who wore number 12 of his jersey.
Truly a devastating loss, and behalf of everyone here at NY Rangers Insider we send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of William Neeb during this difficult time.
May he Rest in Peace.
