This NHL season has seen waves of unusual spikes of play or players behavior that has been never seen before.

Prior to the All-Star break weekend there were two weeks of violent hits that seemed to have escalated throughout the NHL where several players have had major injuries due to these hits.

Over the last week and a half, a new wave of issues has been seen as the next generation of players have broken the unwritten code in the NHL numerous times.

Senators forward Ridly Grieg did an unnecessary clapper into an open net at the end of the Ottawa Senators - Maple Leafs game last Saturday which led to the suspension of Morgan Rielly retaliating with a shot to the head.

The other incident is Detroit Red Wings Jake Walman doing the «Gritty» Celebration after scoring the winning Overtime goal in a penalty shot against the Vancouver Canucks.

According to Elliotte Friedman of the 32 Thoughts podcast and Sportsnet insider, the NHL has taken notice and has decided to send warnings to both clubs to avoid confrontation as they re matched against one another last night.

The Canucks ended up winning the game 4-1 and with Rick Tochett as head coach, there was no Gritty celebration from the Canucks.
