The news out of Philadelphia continues to unfold as the fallout from the Sean Couturier benching has reached a fever pitch.

Many NHL pundits and NHL writers and insiders have given their thoughts along with the fan base with head coach John Tortorella's decision to bench newly minted captain Sean Couturier.

The response across the web was quite negative as many felt this was not necessary or the proper way to get a message to his captain to play better.

Rangers reporter Johnny Lazarus took to the airwaves during his show on thedailyfaceoff.com and explained the fallout an issue with this tactic.

This controversy is certainly not what the Flyers need now as they are currently battling to hold their playoff spot as several teams are right behind them in terms of points.

The dressing room is trying to come together as they face this mountain and the last thing they need is a distraction like this.

This style clearly does not resonate with this generation of player and even though shanked Yuri is an older player there is certainly better ways to handle this type of benching.

Of course, it's the coaches prerogative to run his bench however he sees fit but I widely expect that Torts and Coots will be sitting in the general managers office having a chat on where they stand.
