It seems that Rangers rival the Pittsburgh Penguins continue to get fantastic results from Sid the Kid who is now 36 years old.

After their loss to the bruins, Crosby had crossed the 90 points in a season threshold which will be the eighth time in his career.

The Penguins have had a recent surge in the standings are in the thick of the playoff hunt between four other organizations.

Crosby appears to be willing his team into the playoffs as his play has not slowed down even though his age has creeped up.

He currently now sits 7th in most points in a season over the age of 36 in NHL history where he is one point behind his mentor Mario Lemieux which was set in 2002-2003.

Through 80 games, he has scored 41 goals with 49 assists for 90 points and is a + 9 with 40 penalty minutes.

It's likely that if the Penguins win the wild card two position Crosby and his team will meet the New York Rangers in the first round.

Several teams including the Philadelphia Flyers, Washington capitals, Detroit red wings and the New York Islanders are currently battling for these two playoff spots.

It's going to be a photo finish and the Penguins will be right there to try to lock in their ticket to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
