When news broke that former New York Rangers forward Patrick Kane was returning to the NHL after having hip surgery, many questions were coming out of the woodwork on whether how effective would he be and would he be a good fit for any team considering his health.
Well Kane has answered that question as he has put up phenomenal numbers as a Detroit Red Wing and may be solely responsible for potentially dragging the Red Wings into the playoffs.
Rangers podcaster on Morning Cuppa Hockey discuss what a potential deal Kane could get and what he should deserve.
The 35-year-old winger has been putting on a show for the Red Wings fans and the NHL as he has played 40 games, scored sixteen goals with 23 assists for 39 points while playing an average of 18 minutes of game.
Lazarus and his crew certainly make good points on whether the Red Wings should resign him at what kind of number and term would be best.
A three-year deal would not be out of the question which would put him at 38 years old and signing him to a deal between five and six million dollars per season would not be out of the question.
As Kane is now over 35, he would qualify for the 35 plus contract which could limit the Red Wings and other teams in signing him to a bigger deal.
Would Chris Drury think of throwing a number of money and term to Kane and try for a Rangers reunion?
It will be fascinating on what Steve Yzerman and other managers will do to sign this great talent.
