During game 5 Matthew Tkachuk saved the Panthers from going down 5-3 by making an incredible save on an empty net goal, then teammate Oliver Ekman-Larrson quit on the play that led to Connor McDavid scoring on an empty net.
The Panthers were creating great offensive opportunities late in the game as they were looking to tie the game up and make it 4-4. However, with under a minute left the puck was dumped out of the Oilers zone and was heading for the empty net.
Matthew Tkachuk hustled back and ended up saving a goal giving the Panthers another chance at scoring a goal to tie it up, but OEL gave up on the play and lead to McDavid scoring an empty net goal to seal the deal.
If Ekman-Larrson didn't give up on the play, game 5 could have had a completely different outcome, as the Panthers could've possibly tied it up and forced an overtime. It just goes to show that playing in the Stanley Cup Finals takes a full team effort.
Now game 6 will be heading back to Edmonton after they made a crazy comeback from a 3-0 series deficit.
