It's Confirmed: Sydney Crosby's move to the Rangers finally resolved
There was thought months ago, by The Maven that Sidney Crosby could end up a Ranger in the future.
One of those higher up in the echelons of Madison Square Garden suggested the idea that Crosby could migrate to New York, in the way Mark Messier or Wayne Gretzky did in the past, and be a game changer here.
However, after doing some digging, The Hockey News Stan Fishler got in touch with NHL Insider Vince Comunale puts it lightly:
"Crosby has no intention of leaving Pittsburgh. Like Mario Lemieux, he wants his name associated with just one team, the Penguins. He's already the all-time leader in games played and is only 127 points behind Mario for the franchise lead in points.
"Plus, Sidney needs just 29 assists to surpass Lemieux for the franchise's all-time lead in that department."
As Sidney Crosby's 12-year contract expires soon, the MSG Informant told Fishler they'd love to pull with Crosby, what they did with Messier in the past. However, Comunale said that idea is not worth entertaining and to nix it entirely.
Communale: "It's likely that Sidney he turns 37 next month will sign a new Penguins' deal that will take him through his 40th birthday.
"While the Penguins now are mired in mediocrity, Crosby is hoping that he can stick around long enough to be part of the club's next resurgence."
It's commendable that Crosby shows the Penguins yearly loyalty, but he could be unhappy with the moves Kyle Dubas has made.
Maybe in the future, his mind could be changed.
As Messier would say:
