With the NHL trade deadline long in the rearview mirror, the Florida Panthers may find themselves upgrading several draft picks in part of several trades made on contingent the Panthers make it to the Stanley Cup finals.

Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito was all in this year as his organization had reached the Stanley Cup finals last year. After having a taste of that success, Zito decided to put his chips in the middle and offer many of his draft picks to several teams including the Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Buffalo Sabres.

Players including former Rangers Vladimir Tarasenko, Sabres Kyle Okposo and Magnus Hellberg were all moved to the Panthers.

As for the Rangers, there will be only one trade that could see an outcome similar to the Panthers as the Rangers traded for Jack Roslovic For a fourth round pick. If he plays 50% of the playoff games, the blue jackets will receive a third-round pick instead.

It's clear that the Panthers are in a win now mode and the team has had great success this year in the playoffs thus far. Game one was played tonight and the Panthers drew first blood as they had won 3-0 and took a game out of Madison Square Gardens.
