The New York Rangers are shopping for big name talent during free agency
What GM Chris Drury did to Barclay Goodrow, could be considered dirty and ruthless. But the name of the game for NHL teams to win a cup is money and talent.
And he has tried to create the perfect material conditions to bring in top name talent, at a cost.
Friedman on 32TP: "I wonder if Tyler Toffoli is back on Vancouver's radar...I can see Toffoli being a guy who's on the Rangers radar too with the money that they got with Goodrow off" The Rangers are reportedly on the verge of signing Patrick Kane, so who else will they sign?
It looks like goal-scoring winger, Tyler Toffoli according to Elliotte Friedman of the 32TP.
Drury is deadly serious about improving the Rangers lineup, with the loss of Jack Roslovic, and Alex Wennberg incoming, the team needs to fill the gaps with quality talent.
Toffoli appears uninterested in returning to Winnipeg, after experiencing short-term success, more or less a 1st round exit, under Rick Bowness.
In 2023-2024 the winger scored 55 points( 33 G, 22 A) split between time with the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets.
Drury has $12.8 Million to work with and he will have to sign a few RFA's and the remaining cap space, could be used to secure Kane and Toffoli with the rest.
More as the story develops.
