WHL Announces Mandatory Rule. Your Move NHL
The WHL announced today the adoption of mandatory neck guard protection for all players, effective Friday, November 3.
This comes into effect after the unfortunate death of Adam Johnson, while playing the game, and the ice skate of an opposing player makes a fatal contact with his neck.
This begs the question, when will the NHL finally implement this ruling?
Thankfully the NHL and the NHLPA seem to be in talks about the mandatory neck guards.
There should be no reason for players to be out there, increasing their chances of injury without the proper protection.
Don't take my word for it? The goat agrees with me.
No one better to say it than the great one, Wayne Gretzky.
"Why take it off? Leave the neck guards on."
Hopefully it won't be long til we see this ruling implemented in the NHL.
