The Rangers are tied for first in the league.

With a host of some talented players like Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, and young but promising players like Will Cuylle, Alexis Lafrenière, and Brennan Othmann, this has the making of a team primed for the present and the future.

But one player is just in limbo for this team, and that is Barclay Goodrow.

Barclay Goodrow has four years left on his contract, which the Rangers are paying him $3.64 million per year, about 4.4 percent of their salary cap.

He is on pace for nine points for the season.

Last time he registered a point was December 15th, an assist in the 5-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Last time he score a goal was November 20th, in a 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.

He has been flipping around the lineups each week, and the offense seems to stall with him on the ice, or it excels without his presence.

Unfortunately Goodrow's contract will be difficult to unload, as it seems like the Rangers will need to deal him along with a draft pick or another player to trade him away and clear that space.

Hopefully his game can somehow improve as the season progresses, but I doubt it.
