Fans brutally call out Peter Laviolette following concerning statement after 6-2 loss to the Oilers
New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette issues a concerting statement on the team's performance following 6-2 blowout loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Saturday night, the Rangers faced off against the Oilers for their last game of their four game road trip, and it didn't go as planned.
Everyone was expecting to see a good battle between the two teams as this was the first time they would face each other for the 2024-25 season.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the New York Rangers were in shambles all night as the Oilers ran a clinic on them the whole night and managed to put up two goals in every period.
Yes, the New York Rangers managed to get a couple of breaks as Artemi Panarin managed to get two goals by Stuart Skinner but other than that, the team didn't perform well.
However, the most concerning part of this was when head coach Peter Laviolette was faced with the media following the game and issued a statement regarding the Rangers.
In the statement Peter Laviolette failed to show any accountability for himself or for anyone on the team, leaving many concerned about the future of the team.
Here's what Laviolette said, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post:
«We knew [the Oilers were a good team on the rush], we talked about it. We talked about trying to stay above them and get above them and sometimes we put ourselves in bad positions, sometimes we lost foot races, sometimes we turned the puck over, sometimes we fell down in the offensive zone and lost an edge and the rush just comes back at you quick.»
Understandable this left many fans frustrated which ultimately led to them calling Laviolette out:
«sometimes». its time to start acknowledging trends lol.
No accountability at any level, I see where it starts now
Hopefully the New York Rangers and Peter Laviolette can turn things around and start acknowledging these issues before it's too late.
