Several reports have surfaced on Sunday morning that former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has officially been hired after former Ranger was fired.
Earlier this week, the Boston Bruins canceled their practice, which sparked a ton of speculation as to why they would do that considering their troubling start.
Later in the day, it was confirmed by Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney that the Boston Bruins would be parting ways with Jim Montgomery.
It was also announced that Joe Sacco the assistant head coach of the Bruins for 10 years would take over for Jim Montgomery.
According to Chris Johnston the St. Louis Blues have fired former Rangers defenseman Drew Bannister and hired Jim Montgomery to a five-year deal.
Drew Bannister played three games for the New York Rangers back in the season of 2000-2001, and went pointless during these three games.
Below is the official report:
There was rumours and speculation that Jim Montgomery was set to sign with the St. Louis Blues considering he still owns a house out there.
Jim Montgomery will now take his experience over to St. Louis and hopefully jump start their team as he has quite the resume.
Jim Montgomery's all-time record with the Boston Bruins was 120-43-21, which is quite impressive.
It only took Jim Montgomery five days before landing a new coaching position, however it's unlikely that Drew Bannister will have the fate.
