The expectations were high and somewhat off the charts when the Rangers decided to select Alexis LaFreniere in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft at first overall.

The hype surrounding this young man was outstanding as he was the talk of the town and the talk of the draft during that year.

Unfortunately, in his four years with the Rangers thus far, he has not lived up to the hype.

This season however, it seems that Alexis Lafreniere has taken a step forward in his game as he has looked quite dangerous over the last number of weeks since being paired with Rangers superstar Artemi Panarin.

It seems that sometimes, superstars in the making take longer than expected to become the players everyone thinks they'll be.

Alexis Lafreniere seems to be getting his stride and improving all his facets of the game as his coach Peter Laviolette is taking notice.

Laviolette clearly has no issue putting him out on the ice and this is the way he can help improve his game as he gets more ice time.

A player of his caliber will be critical especially in the capital and the production that he will bring to the team as Johnny Lazarus feels that Alexis Lafreniere will achieve 100-point season during his career.

Through 56 games, he has scored 14 goals with 19 assists for 33 points, his second-best total as a ranger thus far.

If his play continues to soar as it has recently, I expect he would be on the score sheet far more often or helping Panarin pot some goals into the net.
