With the news of New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin being injured, we have to discuss ways to limit player's injuries.

One of those would be to shorten the time of the training camp, but once again Gary Bettman and the NHL are set to make another wrong move.
It seems the NHL and NHLPA have been having discussions about reducing the volume of games during the preseason, as reported by TSN's Pierre LeBrun. The meeting resulted in a positive development, with the idea of a major reduction in the games played during preseason.
But they were also throwing around the idea of adding two regular season games, to an already long, 82-game season.
While this could be an idea fans could get behind the idea of adding two more regular season games in a reduction for fewer post-season games, seems really a tit-for-tat in negotiations.
It's a cynical, and purely profit-driven decision instead of the NHL caring about the players' health or well-being.
This could've been implemented already and saved the Rangers and fans from seeing Artemi Panarin suffering an injury, they're instead using it as a carrot in negotiations.
This is all the while, a significant salary cap jump is being discussed.
While there's some great news, with teams having more cap flexibility, it seems that the NHL like many businesses we've seen in our lives can't stop stealing from the candy jar.
They must get paid first, and of course, advertisements remain!
It sounds like a 50-50 deal, which if you're a fan of those kinds of negotiations, sucks.
But for Marty Walsh, who is head of the NHLPA this is just another way of adding to his resume, after being a former Mayor of Boston and an administrative head of labor for the current Presidential administration.
It is of course, my opinion that the players should have someone who actually played the game, negotiate the deals for them, like the NFL does.
The NHLPA has 32 Members which has representatives of each team, of which Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox represent the Rangers. Are they really that happy with this deal?

I'd ask for another vote and ask for a senior NHLer to take Walsh's place. Why negotiate from a losing position?
