Igor Shesterkin has had a spectacular start to the NHL season, playing 4 of the 5 last games and coming out with a 3-1 record.

He's recorded a 1.98 GAA and a .935 save percentage which is by all means, what you want out of any starting goalie in the NHL.

With the sound 4-1 defeat of the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, Shesterkin has placed himself in the arena of getting paid a huge sum of cash.

The only thing is, will GM Chris Drury and Shesterkin settle on a figure?

It's arguable that Shesterkin has broken the glass ceiling yet again, as he handled a high-scoring team like the Maple Leafs with ease.

Will KevinWeekes report once again of a new Shesterkin demand for a contract?

Each month that Shesterkin continues to prove his excellence means that each month the Rangers will have to pull out more cash to satisfy Shesterkin's production.

Especially if he's in the Rangers long-term plans.

Will Shesterkin end up breaking the Ranger's bank? Only if GM Chris Drury allows himself to be dragged along Shesty's tour of excellence in the NHL.

If the goalie does end up taking the Rangers to the promised land of the Stanley Cup in 2024-2025, the Russian will fetch more on the open market, as many teams in the NHL are missing a starting goalie, including Columbus, Calgary, Anaheim, and arguably the Edmonton Oilers.

«As I said initially when I first broke this story, that deal, the offer of 88, eight years, $11 million a year, times eight," Weekes continued, "$88 million would make him the highest-paid goalie of all time. That eclipses Carey Price's 10 and a half million that he had, and deservedly so.

Initially Weekes himself thought Shesterkin would fetch higher, and with his play as of late should fetch at least that on the market as a UFA.

«Could he push and should he push to get $12 (million)? Sure, why not?" Weekes said.

Can Maxim Moliver deliver a deal amenable to Shesterkin and the Rangers that keeps him here, past the core here now?

We'll have to wait until GM Chris Drury slides the next contract across the table.
