New York Rangers starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin is under fire from NHL fans as he rejects a record-breaking contract from the Rangers.

Igor Shesterkin is arguably the best goaltender in the National Hockey League and New York Rangers fans would love to see him stay with the organization. However that doesn't look promising.

Since Jeremy Swayman finalized an eight-year deal with the Boston Bruins worth $66 million contract with a salary cap hit of $8.25 million, leaving Shesterkin to be the next big name to renew his contract. As according to Kevin Weeks he was offered eight-year deal worth $88 million which is an AAV of $11 million.

Without a doubt this deal would make Shesterkin the highest paid goaltender in the history of the National Hockey League. However, he simply rejected this insane offer because he believes he's worth more than that and arguably he just might be.

Despite all this, Rangers fans are fuming about this news, and many have taken to X, formerly known as twitter, where they completely call out Shesterkin for rejecting such an insane deal, considering it's $3 million more than what Jeremy Swayman got.

Rejecting 11x8 as a tendy is diabolical

That's ridiculous. Time to find his replacement

I am a long time Ranger fan and if this is true, let him go. Can win Cups with a lot cheaper options in the net.

Now, there will be a long wait until contract negotiations will happen consider Shesterkin is refusing to talk about his contract throughout the season, unless they agree to something closer to $12 Million like Shesterkin wants before tomorrow nights game against the Penguins, we will have to wait until the season is over to hear more.
