Igor Shesterkin Nearly In Tears After The Garden Chants His Name
The Rangers have won six straight games to start these playoffs, the first time they've accomplished that feat since their 1994 Stanley Cup championship run with Tuesday's victory by far the hardest to come by thus far. Vincent Trocheck netted the double overtime game winner to give the Rangers a 2-0 series lead over the Carolina Hurricanes, but the one player who stood strong and never wavered the entire game, was Igor Shesterkin, with a masterclass performance!
Shesterkin addresses the media on the Garden faithful chanting his name after an incredible 54 save performance:
"It's an unbelievable feeling every time... every time. I was almost crying"
Head coach Peter Laviolette spoke on Shesterkin's performance in net last night:
"He was fantastic tonight... I thought he played a heck of a game."
Even the Rangers captain Jacob Trouba, is numb to the consistency of Shesterkin's play:
"It's Igor. There's not much else you can say."
Shesterkin has now gone 29 straight playoff games without allowing more than three goals. In NHL history, only second Rangers goalie, Jonathan Quick, has had a longer streak.
