The Boston Bruins are in a stalemate with their #1 goalie, Jeremy Swayman, and GM Chris Drury needs to take notes.

As months of negotiations could be construed to be coming to an end, Bruins President Cam Neely, aired their dirty laundry for all of us to hear.

Much to the dismay of Agent Lewis Gross, and Jeremy Swayman.

"I don't want to get into the weeds with what his ask is," Neely said, "but I know that I have 64 million reasons why I'd be playing right now."

Those words have turned the interaction toxic, and have put the Bruins and Swayman's relationship in question.

Could Swayman have a future in Boston?

"Normally, I do not release statements or discuss negotiations through the media," Gross said in a statement on Instagram. "However, in this case, I feel I need to defend my client. At today's press conference, $64 million was referenced. That was the first time that number was discussed in our negotiations. Prior to the press conference, no offer was made reaching that level."

Gross countered the notion that Neely and Sweeney had placed a $64 Million dollar contract on the table.

"We are extremely disappointed. This was not fair to Jeremy. We will take a few days to discuss where we go from here."

The private negotiation has been handled poorly and has gone public. An unbecoming look for the Boston Bruins organization.

Something GM Chris Drury should take note of, maintain professionalism, and keep negotiations behind the scenes.

As it stands now, GM Chris Drury and Igor Shesterkin have been tight-lipped about their contract discussions, and it should remain so.

Shesterkin wants to remain a Ranger, while GM Chris Drury stated he's in their long-term plans.

You cannot negotiate in public, and be as careless as your original-six brethren, like Jeremy Jacobs, Don Sweeney, and Cam Neely.

Respect your top goalie's privacy.

Shesterkin in 2023-2024 played 55 games, with a 36-17-2 record, 2.56 GAA, and a .913 save percentage.
