Jacob Trouba ditches hockey for a shocking new career
New York Rangers captain, Jacob Trouba opens his first solo art exhibit.
Jacob Trouba has been busy this offseason and has officially taken a big step in one of his off ice passions, and opened an art exhibit.
In a recent social media post, it was revealed that Trouba opened up his first solo art exhibit called Landing My Mark' on Thursday, that combines his passion of art and hockey.
Trouba will be selling prints of his work for charity and is auctioning off one of his pieces, which the proceeds will be donated to Hockey Fights Cancer later in the year.
"We are here in, Chelsea, in Manhattan, at uh, my first solo art exhibition. A bunch of great, great causes and trying to make some positive impacts, but this is my first, I guess, show of making it public of, I guess, my passion for art." Trouba said.
When asked about his process of making art, he added, "Tried painting with a buddy of mine who is an artist, who is nice enough to invite me to his studio. It originally started as, like, a couple days and try to make something I could hang in the house, just as, trying something new. Obviously, I wasn't good at it, it was frustrating and continued to learn about it and learn more about other artists. Came across Yves Klein, who's a French artist, and he would paint with women's bodies. That's when I was - kind of last ditch effort of, if I'm going to do this thing, it's gotta be a little more me."
"So I painted myself and my equipment and liked it, how it came out the first time. I made, I guess, my own artistic language throughout hockey, which obviously relates back to me and what I do."
There will be nice different prints available for the public to purchase on Jacob Trouba's website, with some pieces ranging from $150 USD, 108 signed large prints for $1,000 USD each, and 208 medium prints for $750 USD.
Definitely great to see the Rangers captain enjoying his passions, and being involved with the community while donating money to charities.
Stay on lookout for Trouba's social media accounts for news regarding his auction in support of Hockey Fights Cancer in November.
