The Rangers star-power came through on Saturday, as Artemi Panarin scored a late goal, then scored another in a shootout to give them a 3-2 shootout win.

The win puts the Rangers firmly in the driver seat for the President Trophy.

A win against the Ottawa Senators on Monday, and they clinch the Metropolitan Division, the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed, and the best record in the whole league.

Head coach Peter Laviolette was asked how important scoring that tying goal from Panarin at 5v5 was with the lopsided amount of opportunities in favor of the Islanders:

Prior to the game tying goal from Artemi Panarin, the Rangers have not scored an even-strength goal since last Sunday's 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens, with the 5v5 scoring drought lasting 179:47.

Artemi Panarin said he wasn't frustrated about the 5v5 scoring drought, but something did bother him in the game.

"I was a little frustrated when I lost six minutes (of ice time) in the second period because of the PK."

The best player in the league ladies and gentlemen!
