Laviolette And The Team Reacts To The Harsh Reality Of Teammate
Unfortunately the Rangers lost another player to a season ending injury.
Blake Wheeler suffered a gruesome injury to his right leg during the first period against the Montreal Canadiens in the 7-4 win last night.
Here is Peter Laviolette on the impact of losing Wheeler for the season:
"
He's been amazing since he's been here. His presence. He comes in to work every day. Positive. Hardworking. You can see it right before even training camp started that he was in there early. He was committed to being a part of this team and making it successful. He did that, both in the room and on the ice. When you lose a veteran player like that with such an impact in the room, that's tough to replace."
Mika Zibanejad also comments on the injury of Wheeler:
"You never want to see a teammate, a friend go down like that"
Jacob Trouba has clearly been affected by Wheeler's injury, giving a raw answer:
"I'm not saying this is true, but maybe he played his last hockey game and as a player, as a friend, someone I came into this league with and has taught me so much, it's emotional."
Wheeler was a veteran presence the locker room will miss.
Hopefully this will be something that will galvanize the team for the playoffs!
