Laviolette Jokes With Media On Facing His Former Team
In just his first year as head coach of the New York Rangers, Peter Laviolette has elevated this team to the best in the league.
They have clinched the President Trophy, first time since 2015. With that, they have a first round matchup with the Washington Capitals.
Peter Laviolette was asked on facing his former team, the Capitals, in the playoffs, and he gave a funny response:
"I've coached a lot of teams. If this is the story, I'll have a story every round"
This is mostly true! After his previous head coaching job with the Capitals, he also was the coached for the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Islanders, teams the Rangers would need to get past in order to get to the Conference Finals.
If you want to go really far back, his first job in the NHL was being the assistant head coach of the Boston Bruins, another major contender in the East whom the Rangers could meet.
Let's hope the storylines continue for as long as possible.
