Long time reporter for the New York Rangers, Rick Carpiniello, has just released his book, The Franchise: New York Rangers: A Curated History of the Blueshirts.

Carpiniello covered sports for 45 years with The Journal News in New York City's northern suburbs and then for The Athletic.

From 1978-79 he spent most of his career covering the New York Rangers until his retirement in 2021. Here is a synopsis for the book:

In The Franchise: New York Rangers, take a more profound and unique journey into the history of an iconic team.

This thoughtful and engaging collection of essays captures the astute fans' history of the franchise, going beyond well-worn narratives of yesteryear to uncover the less-discussed moments, decisions, people, and settings that fostered the team's iconic identity.

Through wheeling and dealing, myth-making and community building, explore where the organization has been, how it got to prominence in the modern NHL landscape, and how it'll continue to evolve and stay in contention for generations to come.

It'll be an interesting read for sure with details never told before on our favorite franchise.
