The New York Rangers have just managed to pull off an impressive 2-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night.
All thanks to the goal scorers, Alexis Lafreniere, and the man who netted his first goal of the 2024-25 season.
However, the goal we're focusing on is the beauty that defenseman Zac Jones scored, after a lucky redirection from a play he started in the Rangers zone, giving the Rangers the 2-0 victory.
Jones started the play by breaking out of the New York Rangers zone by banking the puck off the boards to Will Cuyle, who then tried to dump the puck into the Kraken's zone.
While trying to do that, the puck redirected off of Krakens defenseman Will Borgen giving Kaapo Kakko the perfect opportunity to give Jones a pass on the fly, ultimately leading to his first of the 2024-25 season.
This season the 24-year old defenseman has managed to play in 11 out of the last 16 games for the Rangers, and has tallied 5 points (1 goal, 4 assist) while averaging 16:01 minutes per game.
Since joining the Rangers back in the 2020-21 season, Jones has played in 80 games and had recorded 22 points (4 goals and 18 assists).
Overall a great victory for the New York Rangers, especially for goaltender Jonathan Quick as he just got back-to-back shutouts this season leaving him with a record of 4-0 thus far.
The New York Rangers will continue their road trip as they get ready to face off against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday evening at 10PM.
