It's been a strong start for the New York Rangers as the new NHL season rolls into its second week with the team breaking several records as far back as 2008-09.

The Rangers have yet to lose in a regulation loss this season which has resulted in points in every game thus far. The makeup of this team is relatively the same as last years with only a few changes which includes Barclay Goodrow who was moved to the San Jose Sharks and the addition of Reilly Smith who was traded to the Rangers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Rangers are getting all aspects of their team working today. Their goaltending has been strong which included the start of Jonathan quick last evening. The offence defence are running well as they beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-2. Their special teams have also worked well as they scored three power play goals during that contest.

Many pundits expect the Rangers to challenge to be the best team in the Eastern Conference for a second year in a row and the start that they've had certainly gives evidence that this may be the case. However, it's a long season and many things can go wrong but at this time the Rangers look great and hopefully this trend can continue.

There are still some hurdles that need to overcome including Kaapo Kakko's game that needs to emerge, better scoring with five on five and the securing of Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin's new contract extension.

The Rangers will remain on the road as they will arrive at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto to play against their archrival the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game will be held on Saturday October 19th and game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
