During the Rangers six game series versus the Hurricanes, 21-year old rookie Matt Rempe only suited up for three game while remaining as a healthy scratch for the rest.

Out of the three games that Rempe played he failed to manage over 10 minutes of play time, as he was benched for major parts of the third period.

Head coach Peter Laviolette doesn't seem to have faith in Rempe during crucial moments, and with it being the playoffs, the coach will always go with players they believe in most.

Something that does standout is, Matt Rempe played every game at MSG during the second round series but was benched during all game in Carolina.

Maybe in a more physical series, Rempe could see more ice time as he doesn't shy away from dropping the gloves and laying bone crushing hits.

The Rangers are set to play either the Boston Bruins or Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference finals, and with both teams play physical, so Rempe may just solidify a more permanent spot.

However, Rempe isn't the strongest offensive player which definitely affects his offensive and defensive abilities, something that could hinder the Rangers severely in the next round.

Someone who does provide more speed and has a higher offensive ability compared to Rempe is Jonny Brodzinski. Even if Filip Chytil is healthy, it will be hard to keep him out of the lineup.

Peter Laviolette will have some tough decisions to make come next round.
