New York Rangers former first-round pick has truly proven he's better off with the Seattle Kraken

New York Rangers former first-round pick just proved he's better off with his new team and that a fresh start was truly needed for himself.

The New York Rangers ended up trading their former first-round draft pick (2nd overall) Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken back on December 18th and he has truly made a name for himself with the organization.

Within just 10 games with the Seattle Kraken, the 23-year-old forward has managed to tally three goals, five assists and for a total of eight points. While playing with the Rangers he managed to tally four goals and 10 assists in 30 games played.

Kakko is also averaging 15:59 minutes of ice time per game compared to his 13:17 minutes with the New York Rangers.

On Saturday night Kaapo Kakko scored two goals to help the Seattle Kraken take a dominant 6-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres, making the first time he has scored twice in a single game in nearly three years.

It was pretty clear that Kaapo Kakko needed a fresh start and that his time in New York unfortunately ran its course. However the 23-year old is now playing more freely without the immense pressure that the Rangers place on him.

As Kakko is with his new team he is no longer the second overall pick with all these high expectations, he is just simply another one of the guys.
