It was a tough news conference for New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette as he described that defenseman Adam Fox and K'Andre Miller had to be evaluated after they both sustained an injury.

Miller's injury was a mystery to many fans as the play took place at 14:20 of the second period where the Rangers were skating out of their own end and Miller appeared to slow down after the puck left their zone.
He was then seen leaving the bench and heading down the corridor with no word on what had happened.

Fox injury appears to be more serious with his shoulder

Fox on the other hand was attempting to clear the puck out of the Rangers zone when he was tangled with New York Islanders centre Kyle MacLean.
He appeared to lose his balance as he was trying to clear the puck and his left shoulder came crashing down to the ice which forced him to leave the game.
The Rangers clearly cannot have these injuries happened at this time as they're trying to claw themselves back into a playoff spot after a disastrous November and December.
The team had seen their fortunes turn around after the new year as the team stabilized and began to win more games overall and push themselves closer to a playoff spot.

NHL playoffs or bust seems to be the theme

The team is currently two points behind the Ottawa Senators who are tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers have played 57 games which still gives them plenty of time to try to lock down a spot if teams begin to fade.
Many feel the Rangers will also be active at the NHL trade deadline which is set for March 7th as the team continues to re mold its vision on how it should look after it's loss against the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference finals last year.
It remains to be seen on how general manager Chris Drury will handle this trade deadline and the remaining games of the season but it's safe to say that the Rangers will be there and try to redeem themselves and get back into the playoffs.
